American comedian and actor, Kevin Hart has achieved a major feat in his impressive career.
The popular comedian was announced on Tuesday as the host of the 91st Oscar Awards in February 2019.
The Oscars originally known as the Academy Awards represents a platform to recognise artistic, technical merit and excellenct cinematic achievements in the film industry.
On this note, Hart will be joining a lineup of iconic comedians to have filled the event's hosting role, including Chris Rock, Jimmy Kimmel, Billy Crystal, Johnny Carson and Bob Hope.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity Hart wrote on Instagram, ''for years I have been asked if I would ever host the Oscars and my answer was always the same. I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian and that it will happen when it's suppose to.
" I am so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars. I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time. To be able to join the legendary list of hosts that have graced that stage is unbelievable".
Hart, who most recently starred in the comedy "Night School" alongside comedienne Tiffany Haddish, has previously hosted prestigious award ceremonies like the BET Awards in 2011 and the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.
