Seplat Petroleum Development Company on Wednesday in Benin, Edo State donated some items for the management of COVID-19 to Edo State Government.
Some of the items include: motorised sprayers, Knapsack sprayers, eye goggles, hands sanitisers, nose masks, temperature guns, chemical gloves and personal protective equipment.
In his speech, the Base Manager of Seplat, Emmanuel Otokhine, said the items were to provide support to the Edo state Government to contain the spread of the Coronavirus Disease in the state.
According to him, the gesture was to help the state government to up its ability to manage the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Otokhine said: “We understand that the state government has put in place many measures in the fight against Coronavirus.
“We felt that we should give them this assistance. We understand that at the moment, personal protection equipment are in short supply, even if you placed order you won’t get.
“We are presenting some of these so that the personnel who are handling those confirmed cases and those who are going to test positive will require those equipment.”
In his remarks, the Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, who is also Chairman, Coronavirus Response Committee, thanked them for their contribution to support the state’s effort in the fight against the pandemic.
Shaibu called on other well meaning individuals to emulate the step taken by Seplat, saying government alone could not do it, but with the support from individuals.
